Advent is upon us, my friends! It can be a challenging time of year: we watch as our culture around us has all but celebrated the feast (even before Advent starts!), and it’s easy to get caught up in the celebration despite not preparing our hearts and minds first. The gift of Advent is one that allows us to pause and reflect — inviting us to “pray and love”, as Bishop Rhoades writes in his Advent letter to our diocese.
How will you pray during these next 4 weeks? How will you love?
Pray for you,
Truth in Charity w/ Bishop Rhoades: On this bonus episode, Bishop talks about the Advent season and his message to Catholics in our diocese. As he writes, “The Latin word “Adventus” means “coming.” The meaning of Advent can be summed up in two words: “God comes.” God comes to dwell among us and to stay with us. He comes to free us from sin and death. He comes to save us.”

You have a choice this Advent: Get caught up in the annual rush of shopping, decorating, and parties or slow down and take a few minutes each day to remember who this season is really about—Jesus.
In Adore, popular author and speaker Fr. John Burns and illustrator Valerie Delgado of Pax. Valerie will help you reclaim the sacred sense of longing and joyful hope at the heart of Advent, focusing on a new theme each week—vigilance, preparation, nearness, and Emmanuel—that you can relate to your own life.
